Lesson 8: Collaborative ICT Development

In this lesson i learned how to used an online collaborative tool and i understand the advantages of it.
In this lesson we discussed about;

Web Portal which is a page that acts as an access point to the web.
For example;
         • Yahoo.com

          • Tumbler
          • Blogger
3. Presentation/ Visualizations
          - to communicate information clearly and efficiently via statistical graphics
      Examples:
           • Prezi
           • Zoho
           • Slideshare
           • Mindmeister
4. Cloud Computing
          - the practice of using a network of remote servers hosted on the Internet to manage rather than a local server or a personal computer and it is a shared pools of configurable computer system resources.
      Examples:
           • Google Drive
           • Dropbox
5. Web Page Creation
           - encompasses a number of important elements
       Examples:
            • Wix
            • Weebly
6. Files Management
           - storing, naming, sorting and handling computer files.
       Examples:
            • Zamzar
            • word2pdf
7. Mapping
           - transformation taking the points of one space into the points of the same or another space.
       Examples:
            • Google Maps
            • ikimapia

Basic Web Design Principles and Elements

Before you begin:
1. Consider the audience and goals
2. It is advisable to plan the site on paper first
Site Lay-Outing
1. Strive for Consistency
2. Provide a rich set of links within the site
3. Don't hide important information

The Web Medium:
1. Provide opportunities for interaction

The Front Door:
1. Give a description title of the site
2. Include a brief introduction
3. Make the sites homepage as useful a starting point as possible

Accessibility:
1. Make sure the text is used legible
2. Make sure the site is platform independent
3. Consider the needs of the viewers

The End Game:
1. Thoroughly test the site
2. Carefully proofread

Lesson 6: Imaging and Design for Online Environment

In this lesson in Lesson 6 i learned how to easily manipulate images using a simple image editor and I understand the use of several file formats and I learned to create a simple infographic using web tools and i also understand the basic principles of graphics and layouts.

Basic Principles of Graphics and Layout
1. Balance
2. Emphasis
3. Movement
4. Pattern, Repetition, and Rhythm
5. Proportion
6. Variety

Infographics or also known as Information Graphics is used to represent information, statistical sata or knowledge in a graphical manner.

Principles and Basic Techniques of Image Manipulation
Tips to help you edit images for your website;

Lesson 5: Advanced Presentation Skills

Allows users to create visual aids for presentations called Presentation Software.
Microsoft PowerPoint is developed by microsoft and it uses slides to convey information and is bundled together with Word, Excel and other Office productivity tools.

Key Terms in MS PowerPoint
 • Slide- single page of a presentation.
 • Design Template- pre-designed graphic styles.
 • Slide Show- collection of pages arranged in sequences.
 • Animation- set of effects.
 • Transition- motion effects.
 • Hyperlink- allows you to jump to another location.

Types of Views in MS PowerPoint
Normal View- simplified layout
Notes Page View- displays your slides on the top portion of the page
Outline View- all of the text in a PowerPoint slide show in outline form
Slide Sorter View- mini versions of slides

Creating an Effective Presentation
1. Minimize
2. Clarity
3. Simplicity
4. Visuals
5. Consistency
6. Contrast

I learned in this lesson to embed files and data in a PowerPoint and maximize PowerPoint presentation as an effective visual aid tool and it improves the PowerPoint presentation by using hyperlinks.

Lesson 4: Advanced Spreadsheet Skills

Microsoft Excel is a software for editing and printing information in a tabulate form and it is mainly used for handling numbers from what i've learned.

Using Formulas and Functions
Rule of Precedence- "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally".
=Sum(range) - total of all items in specified range.
=Average(range) - average of the items in a range.
=Count(range) - count the values found in range.
=Max(range) - largest value of the range.
=Min(range) - smallest value in a range.
=COUNTIF (range, criteria) - count the cells with specified content.
=SUMIF (range, criteria) - compute for the summation of a range if a certain condition is met.
=AVERAGEIF (range, criteria) - average of a range if a certain condition is met.
• Copying Formula
• Absolute and Relative reference
• Sorting Data
• Creating and Editing Charts

Lesson 3: Advanced Word Processing Skills

Based on what i've learned in our discussion in Mail Merge is a tool that allows you to produce multiple letters, labels, envelopes, name tags, and more using information stored in a list. Mail Merge has two components which are the;
 • Form Document- contains the main body of the message
 • List or Data File- data that needs to be merged
Label Generation is a blank form document and will use the data file that you selected to print the information.
Their are different Kinds of Material for Integrating Images and External Materials;
1. Pictures- electronic or digital pictures
2. Clip Art- a GIF type, line art drawings or images
3. Shapes- printable objects or materials
4. Smart Art- predefined sets of different shapes grouped together
5. Chart- allows you to represent data characteristics and trends
6. Screenshot- a more realistic image of what you are discussing
The Image Placement for Integrating Images and External Materials;
1. In line with text- inserted in your document
2. Square- inserted to be placed anywhere within the paragraph text
3. Tight- conforms to the general shape
4. Through- to follow even tighter
5. Top and bottom- pushes the text vertically to the top or bottom
6. Behind Text- to be dragged and placed anywhere
7. In front of Text- to be placed right on top

Lesson 1: Introduction to Information and Communication Technologies

Based on our lesson, Information and Communication Technology or ICT deals with the use of different communication technologies such as mobile phones, telephone, Internet, etc.. to locate, save, send and edit informations. As we discussed we learned the role and importance of ICT in dealing with our daily lives and how ICT affects the different aspects of our living. In ICT it discusses the 'The World Wide Web' or the WWW where the documents and other web resources are identified by Uniform Resource Locators or the URLs.

The Web 1.0 is a flat page and static and cannot be manipulated by the users and it is invented in early 90's by the creation of Tim Berners-Lee.
The Web 2.0 also known as Dynamic Web Pages is the evolution of the first web unlike Web 1.0 which is static the Web 2.0 where the users are able to see the website differently than the others and it also allows the users to interact within the paged they able to type a comment. Web 2.0 is invented in 1999 and we still most used it today.
The Web 2.0 has its features like;
• Folksonomy- allows the users to categorize information more freely, by example tagging.
• Rich User Experience- It is responsive to users input.
• Long Tail- Services are offered on demand rather than on a one-time purchased.
• User Participation- the websites allows other to place a content of their own.
• Software as a Service- It allows the users to create and edit word processing and spreadsheets     online.
• Mass Participation- It is a diverse information sharing through universal web access.
The Web 3.0 or the Semantic Web aims the users preferences to be able to deliver web content and it provides a common framework that allows data to be shared.
The Web 3.0 also contains Several problems like in;
• Compatibility
• Security
• Vastness
• Vagueness
• Logic
The Trends in ICT are the Convergence, Social Media, Mobile Technologies and Assistive Media.
 1. The Convergence is the synergy pf technological advancements.
 2. The Social Media is an online channels or an application that enable the users to create and  exchange users content.
Social Media has six types;
• Social Networks
• Bookmarking Sites
• Social News
• Media Sharing
• Microblogging
• Blogs and Forums
 3. The Mobile Technologies are the smartphones and tablets that rises and trends over the years.
Kinds of Mobile Technologies Operating Systems;
• IOS
• Android
• Blackberry Os
• Windows Phone OS
• Symbian
• WebOS
• Windows Mobile
 4.The Assistive Media is designed to helps the people who have visual and reading impairments.
